With Pitti Filati, the year began under the banner of optimism. At the Maglificio Pini stand, complex workmanship, savoir faire and research captivated the buyers
The attendance at the 92nd edition of Pitti Filati inspired the right approach to start the year: optimism, energy and a desire to experiment. First of all, because the final figures of the Fair are comforting: buyer attendance in the Fortezza da Basso was close to that of January 2020, a few weeks before the pandemic.
The Maglificio Pini stand was a big success. In particular, it was the complex techniques, among our greatest strengths, that captured the attention of KnitClub visitors. We were able to illustrate and deepen, for example, knitting techniques such as:
- Floats and frings
- Full needles with leather
- Padded ribs and Milano stitches
- Plissé and ottoman
- Shirred jerseys
- Jacquards in a variety of colors
In particular, the collection created by the Maglificio raised interest in both the innovative knitting stitches and the pattern-making, revealing originality and attention to contemporary trends, but above all a profound knowledge of raw materials and skill in workmanship.

Presenting the collection is an immediate way for our expertise to take shape, to be closely observed and touched.
Alongside the original garments, there is also a selection of vintage items, produced by Maglificio Pini throughout its history and kept in our archives. Because curiosity and fascination for a long tradition in the world of knitwear testify, every day, to our dedication to what we do.
Precisely because of its fundamental role, Maglificio Pini’s Archive is always available for consultation, also online.
Among this year’s novelties at Pitti Filati we could not miss a topic dear to us, research: we finally presented the first prototypes in Kapok. As we have already mentioned, the yarn has antibacterial, hypoallergenic and breathable properties; moreover, it is a sustainable choice right from its cultivation, as it requires little water, allowing a limited use of this precious resource, and grows without the use of fertilisers and pesticides, presenting itself as a ‘zero-impact yarn’.
The next appointment with Pitti Filati is in the summer season, again at the Fortezza da Basso, from 28th to 30th June 2023. We will be there and we are already starting to gather ideas and inspiration.
